About Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish

The first collaboration of Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish resulted in Liberated Parents/Liberated Children, a book that describes their experiences in ten years of parent-guidance groups with the late child psychologist, Dr. Haim Ginott. Selected by the Book-of-the-Month Club, their book also won the Christopher Award for "literary achievement affirming the highest values of the human spirit."

Since its publication, both women have traveled across the country presenting their humorous and inspiring lectures and workshops to parents, teachers, and mental health professionals. The work they subsequently did with nursery schools, teenagers and parents was documented for TV in a series shown on CBS.

Out of all these experiences came their second and third books--the internationally acclaimed How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk (almost two million copies sold) and Siblings Without Rivalry (#1 on The New York Times Best Seller List). These were followed by the group workshop programs that gave parents the opportunity to practice the communications skills in each book.

Their most recent collaboration has produced a number of new works:

* A photographic book with poetic text entitled Between Brothers & Sisters: A Celebration of Life's Most Enduring Relationship.
* An audio-cassette program for individual use called How to Be The Parent You Always Wanted to Be.
* Two books for children teaching communication skills, Bobby and the Brockles and Bobby and the Brockles Go to School.
* How To Talk So Kids Can Learn at Home and at School--winner of the Child Magazine Award for Excellence in Family Issues in Education.

The authors are former members of the faculty of the New School for Social Research in New York and Family Life Institute of C.W. Post College of Long Island University and have appeared on every major talk show from Good Morning America to Oprah.

In the past two decades they have been honored by their inclusion in Who's Who in America.
